• DNA collected during a forensic exam matched an unknown profile from a 2016 Plano, Texas case through CODIS, connecting investigators to Carias-Interiano via prior buccal swabs.
• Surveillance footage and license plate data placed a vehicle tied to him near the scene within minutes, and Special Victims Unit Detective Samantha Romano secured an arrest warrant.
• He appeared in court Friday, remains held on $750,000 bond, and is subject to an immigration detainer after authorities said he is undocumented and had previously been deported.
