Man Arrested in Drive-By Shooting at Sacramento’s ABC10 Station

Police say they identified a vehicle tied to the gunfire with FBI help; motive remains under investigation.

Overview

  • Anibal Hernandez Santana, 64, was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied building, and negligent discharge of a firearm.
  • Investigators said they linked the suspect to a vehicle believed used in the attack and made the arrest with assistance from the FBI, including locating him in Sacramento’s River Park neighborhood.
  • The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. Friday at KXTV/ABC10 on Broadway, where at least three rounds struck a lobby window while the building was occupied; no injuries were reported.
  • Authorities classify the incident as a drive-by and have not determined whether the gunfire was targeted or connected to a protest held outside the station the previous day over ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
  • Tegna, which owns ABC10, said all staff are safe, it is cooperating with law enforcement, and additional safety measures have been implemented.
