Man Arrested for Impersonating Delhi Police Sub-Inspector at IGI Airport as Probe Expands

With charges for forgery, trespassing, impersonation filed after officers discovered fake credentials, Delhi Police are reviewing airport CCTV to see if Sahil Kumar was involved in additional offences

The accused, identified as Sahil Kumar, had forged documents to pose as a police officer, thereby misleading his female acquaintances and social circle, the police said.

  • Sahil Kumar, 23, was intercepted by CISF officers at Terminal 3 of IGI Airport on July 7 while posing as a Delhi Police sub-inspector during routine surveillance
  • Police seized a Photoshop-crafted Delhi Police ID marked PSI, a forged appointment letter, blank case diary pages and photos of Kumar in uniform from his possession
  • During interrogation, Kumar admitted using the false identity to befriend female acquaintances, including serving officers, and spent nights inside the terminal disguised as an officer
  • Delhi Police registered an FIR under forgery, impersonation and trespassing statutes and formed a dedicated team to lead the investigation
  • Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage from the terminal to determine whether Kumar engaged in any further illicit activities beyond his impersonation
