The arrest followed a federal criminal complaint, with Langstaff facing charges of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in such activity after meeting the girl on a Reddit forum for runaways.
The girl was reported missing by her family in Arizona, leading to a search that culminated in her being found hidden in a closet at Langstaff's apartment.
If convicted, Langstaff could face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.
The FBI and the Long Beach Police Department are investigating the case, with an initial court appearance for Langstaff scheduled in downtown Los Angeles.
