Man Arrested, Arraigned in Predawn Bronx Rape and Robbery Inside Apartment Building

A tip sparked by released surveillance images led detectives to 21-year-old Kenneth Siriboe, police and prosecutors said.

Overview

  • The 36-year-old victim was attacked around 5 a.m. on Sept. 28 in a Norwood apartment building near East Gun Hill Road and Putnam Place and was later listed in stable condition at North Central Bronx hospital.
  • Kenneth Siriboe, 21, was arrested Monday and has been charged with rape, robbery, burglary, strangulation, criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal trespass, assault, sexual abuse, and grand larceny.
  • Prosecutors said Siriboe was arraigned, pleaded not guilty, and is due back in court on Friday, and he told investigators he was homeless.
  • Investigators circulated surveillance video showing the suspect leaving a stairwell; a public tip identified him, and police executed a search warrant at a Bronx building where he had been staying.
  • Authorities said the attacker stole a Coach purse and a wallet containing about $250 and fled east on Gun Hill Road, and they noted reported rapes in the Bronx are up roughly 32% this year to 407 through Sept. 21.
