Man Arrested After Live-In Partner's Body Found in Fridge in Madhya Pradesh

Police say the woman was killed nearly a year ago after pressuring her partner to marry, with her body concealed in a rented house's refrigerator.

The body of Pratibha Patidar, a woman in her 30s, was discovered in a refrigerator in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, nearly 10 months after her death.
Her live-in partner, Sanjay Patidar, 41, has been arrested and is accused of strangling her in March 2024 with the help of an accomplice after she pushed him to formalize their relationship.
Sanjay had rented the house in June 2023, later vacating it but retaining access to a locked portion where the refrigerator was kept.
The crime came to light after a power cut caused a foul smell to emanate from the refrigerator, prompting complaints from neighbors and an inspection by the landlord.
Police have drawn comparisons to a similar high-profile case in Delhi, where a man killed his live-in partner and stored her dismembered body in a refrigerator.
