Overview
- Officers were called at about 3:40am to a domestic-related incident in Kirkdale, where a brief foot chase ended with shots from an imitation firearm directed at police.
- Merseyside Police confirmed through forensic testing that the weapon was a blank-firing firearm and reported no injuries.
- A 25-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm in a public place, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, and harassment.
- Cordons and road closures were set on sections of Stanley Road, Great Mersey Street, Heriot Street, Lemon Street, and St Alphonsus Street as Matrix and forensic teams worked at the scene.
