Overview
- The killing occurred early Monday when 39-year-old Rubén Ricardo Carrizo reportedly smothered his 32-year-old partner, Karen Romina García, in their home in Villa del Carmen while their four children slept in the next room.
- Carrizo left the house, wandered for hours, then told relatives what had happened and was taken to Comisaría 3ª where he confessed and was detained.
- Relatives forced entry into the home at midday and found García’s body on the marital bed with a small trace of blood at the mouth, and paramedics said she had been dead for several hours.
- The prosecutor ordered the scene preserved, arranged an autopsy and forensic pericias, and directed psychophysical examinations of the detained suspect as police gather testimony and physical evidence.
- The four children, ages 9, 5, 3 and 1 — the oldest diagnosed with autism — were placed with their maternal grandmother and face urgent social and care needs while the judicial process proceeds.
