Man Arrested After A47 Crash Near Thorney Leaves Woman Seriously Injured

  • Police were called at about 10:55am to a collision between a car and a motorbike on the A47 between Thorney and Thorney Toll.
  • A woman sustained serious injuries, was taken to Peterborough City Hospital, and was later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
  • A 50-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol, driving with excess drugs, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and remains in custody.
  • The East of England Ambulance Service said an ambulance, an ambulance officer, and the Magpas Air Ambulance attended, and the motorcyclist was transported by road to Addenbrooke’s for further care.
  • The road was initially closed in both directions between Thorney Bypass and Cross Guns Road, the westbound carriageway reopened before noon, and police confirmed full reopening at about 1:10pm.
