Overview
- Michael Maloney, 32, of Loughros Point, Ardara, was charged with murdering his uncle by marriage, Stephen McCahill, on 5 January.
- McCahill, 66, a well-known businessman and co-owner of the Corner House bar, was pronounced dead outside his home at Beagh after an assault reported around 3:50am.
- Gardaí arrested the suspect at a separate location, detained him under Section 4, and charged him on 6 January; no bail was sought and he was remanded to Castlerea Prison with a videolink hearing set for 12 January.
