Overview

• Michael J. Guerrero, 36, was arrested in Providence last week after investigators circulated surveillance images and received information from restaurant employees, then appeared in court Monday.
• He pleaded not guilty to charges including carjacking, kidnapping, indecent assault and battery on a person over 60, assault with a dangerous weapon, and threat to commit a crime, and is held without bail pending an Oct. 6 dangerousness hearing.
• Authorities allege he approached a 75-year-old outside a Pembroke Ninety-Nine Restaurant as she returned for a lost phone and wallet and claimed he was a valet.
• Prosecutors say he drove her into Rhode Island and demanded lewd acts while saying he had a gun; the woman escaped at an intersection after he exited, tossed the keys, and ran, then she reported to Pembroke police.
• Investigators determined he used a rideshare app to travel between locations on the night of the incident.
