Overview

• Police detained a 64-year-old man on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a late-night fire in the grounds of the Thistle City Barbican Hotel on Dingley Road.
• The suspect was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article and remains in custody.
• No injuries were reported, and hotel staff extinguished the fire before officers arrived.
• The Metropolitan Police say the inquiry continues at pace under Commander Hayley Sewart, with the incident still treated as a hate crime.
