Overview
- Around 9:45pm Friday, the man became unresponsive on the Merri station platform after Protective Service Officers had called an ambulance and applied handcuffs due to increasing erratic behaviour.
- Officers performed CPR at the scene, but the 63-year-old could not be revived.
- Police said the man appeared substance-affected after assistance was sought on a Mernda line train.
- Detectives from the Homicide Squad are investigating with oversight from Victoria Police’s Professional Standards Command.
- Authorities have not released the medical cause of death as the inquiry begins.
