- The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:42 p.m., according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
- Because of the remote location, the decedent was flown by helicopter to the Washington County Medical Examiner.
- The U.S. Department of the Interior said the man’s companion was safely rescued from the canyon wall, and authorities are investigating.
