Man, 40, Arrested on Suspicion of Two Linked Murders in London

Detectives are treating the deaths as linked, with inconclusive post-mortems complicating the case.

Overview

  • Carmenza Trujillo, 53, was found unresponsive on March 17 at the Aylesbury Estate in south-east London and was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Sheryl Wilkins, 39, was discovered unresponsive on August 24 on Tottenham High Road and died at the scene despite emergency response.
  • The same 40-year-old man was first arrested on April 1 in the Trujillo case, released under investigation, then arrested on Thursday by the Met’s Specialist Crime team in connection with both deaths.
  • He remains in custody as Detective Chief Inspector Neil John leads a priority investigation and says the victims’ families are being supported by specialist officers.
  • Police have appealed for witnesses and information related to either incident, stressing that the arrests are on suspicion and no charges have been announced.
