Mamba Coaster Seat Belts Found Faulty, Replaced the Same Day Before Ride Reopened

State records confirm worn seat-belt components were replaced, allowing the coaster to reopen that evening.

Overview

  • A Missouri Division of Fire Safety spot inspection on Oct. 30 found more than 20 seat belts or retractors on the Mamba not locking properly, and the ride was red‑tagged.
  • Six Flags said 18 seat-belt units were replaced out of caution, and the park implemented modifications requested by the Fire Marshal.
  • DFS reinspected the coaster that afternoon and approved it to resume operations that night, with no other deficiencies cited on the report.
  • The inspection followed rider accounts from Oct. 11 that a young passenger’s seat belt came undone mid-ride and from Oct. 12 that another belt had not locked before staff adjusted it.
  • Worlds of Fun emphasized lap bars as the primary restraint and noted the ride passed its April 25 annual inspection; no injuries have been reported.
