Mama Bear 'Hank the Tank' and Cubs Captured After String of Lake Tahoe Break-Ins

A female bear nicknamed "Hank the Tank" was responsible for at least 21 home break-ins in the Lake Tahoe area since early 2022.
The bear, identified as 64F, was captured along with her three cubs after extensive property damage.
The adult bear will be relocated to a wildlife sanctuary in Colorado while the cubs will go to a rehabilitation facility in California.
The bears' behavior was likely influenced by the climate crisis and lack of food availability.
This relocation was approved as an alternative solution to protect both the bears and the local community.
