Malvern Man Pleads Guilty to Possessing Unregistered Explosive Devices

Sentencing is scheduled for March 31 with a potential 10-year term.

Overview

  • Kevin Krebs, 32, entered the guilty plea in federal court before U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Costello after prosecutors charged him by information earlier this month.
  • He was first stopped on June 14 near a West Chester 'No Kings' protest carrying a loaded Sig Sauer handgun without a concealed carry permit, with an AR-15 rifle in his nearby car.
  • A June 16 search of his Malvern residence uncovered 13 pipe bombs, some packed with nails and screws, along with detonator components, tactical vests, and bullet-resistant armor.
  • Investigators also reported seizing loaded magazines, an M9 bayonet, pepper spray, night-vision goggles, a gas mask, and an LED strobe mounted on his vehicle.
  • The case was investigated by the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, West Chester Police, and FBI units with bomb squad support, after a federal complaint led to his arrest in October.
