Overview

  • Thorson was crowned Wednesday in Falcon Heights, the day before the fair opened, as outgoing Princess Kay Rachel Visser passed the crown, and she will represent Wright County.
  • Her butter likeness will be carved from a 90-pound block of Grade AA butter by artist Gerry Kulzer while she sits in a glass refrigerator during her first two days at the Dairy Building.
  • As Princess Kay, she takes on a year of public appearances and classroom outreach as the dairy community’s spokesperson, a schedule that last year included 86 events and more than 3,000 students, according to Visser.
  • The 2025 finalists were Natalie Clemenson, Monica Evers, Paige Frenchick, Nicole Hauschildt, Alexis Hoefs, April Klaphake, Heidi Montag, Lauren Steffl, and Haylie Wielenberg.
  • Candidates are selected for communication skills, personality, and dairy knowledge under eligibility rules requiring them to be at least graduating seniors, under 24, and unmarried.
