Overview

• Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel has arrived in India for a three-day visit, marking his third trip this year, to review the implementation of the India-Maldives vision document adopted in October 2024.
• Khaleel will lead the Maldives delegation at the second High-Level Core Group (HLCG) meeting, which monitors progress on the comprehensive economic and maritime security partnership.
• The visit follows the recent signing of 13 MoUs under India's High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) Phase III, aimed at enhancing ferry services across the Maldives with a grant of MVR 100 million.
• Khaleel is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to further strengthen ties and discuss collaborative initiatives under the Neighbourhood First policy and Vision MAHASAGAR.
