Overview

  • He was swimming with family at Playa Grande de Cocles in Limón province on July 20 when a strong current pulled him into deeper water and Costa Rica’s Red Cross found him without vital signs after bystanders attempted a rescue.
  • Warner rose to fame as Theo Huxtable on NBC’s The Cosby Show from 1984 to 1992, earning a 1986 Emmy nomination and reshaping on-screen representation of a Black middle-class family.
  • After The Cosby Show, he co-starred in the sitcom Malcolm & Eddie and held major roles in dramas including Major Crimes, Suits and The Resident.
  • In May 2024 he launched Not All Hood, a podcast with Weusi Baraka and Candace Kelley that explored diverse experiences within the Black community.
  • Survived by his wife and daughter, Warner has been honored by fans, fellow actors and cultural organizations for his four-decade career and enduring impact on television.
