Malaysia to Implement Digital Arrival Card for Most Foreigners from January 1
Singaporeans and certain other categories of travelers are exempt from this requirement, part of Malaysia's visa liberalisation plan.
- Malaysia will make it compulsory for most foreigners to fill in the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) from January 1, 2024.
- Singaporeans, along with Malaysia long-term pass holders, those with Brunei common identification certificates, and holders of Thai border passes and Indonesian Cross-Border passes, are exempt from this requirement.
- The MDAC must be filled out two to three days before arrival in Malaysia, with a grace period in effect until December 31, 2023.
- The MDAC is part of Malaysia's visa liberalisation plan, which includes a visa exemption for Chinese and Indian citizens for 30 days from December 1, 2023.
- The MDAC was initially launched to allow Singapore passport holders to use electronic gate (e-gate) facilities at the two land entry points in Johor Bahru.
