Malaysia Starts MyNIISe QR Immigration Pilot at Johor Checkpoints on Sept. 22

The pilot aims to cut queues by shifting checks to app-generated codes at dedicated lanes.

Overview

  • Malaysians and eligible visitors from 63 countries, including Singapore, can use the MyNIISe app for QR-based clearance at the Johor Bahru (BSI) and Second Link (KSAB) land checkpoints during the trial.
  • Motorists entering Singapore will scan a MyNIISe QR code at dedicated gates that automatically verify passport and vehicle details, allowing the barrier to lift without manual counter checks.
  • Users must register in the app to generate a unique QR code, and groups traveling in the same vehicle can clear immigration with a single shared code.
  • For the rollout, 27 booths at BSI and 24 at KSAB are enabled for MyNIISe, with plans to add more in phases as authorities monitor operations and public response.
  • The trial runs until Feb 28, 2026, with staged expansion to KLIA Terminals 1 and 2, Penang, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu airports; MyBorderPass remains available during the transition and travellers should still carry passports.
