- Malaysia Airlines will add a third daily Sydney–Kuala Lumpur service on 30 August, taking annual capacity on the route to around 630,000 seats, the highest of any Australian airport.
- Australia–Malaysia air service rights have been increased from 36,000 to 50,000 seats per week with no limits from 2026, supporting the additional flights.
- The A330neo operating the route features 28 business seats and 269 economy seats and is described by the airline as about 25% more fuel-efficient with lower emissions and quieter engines.
- Malaysia Aviation Group says services are planned to grow to 21 return flights per week by the end of October.
- The carrier plans to reinstate its pre-pandemic Kuala Lumpur–Brisbane route in November.
