Overview

  • The Kerala Film Producers Association will require all cast and crew to sign a ‘no drugs’ affidavit alongside their remuneration contracts, extending from shooting locations to production accommodations.
  • The measure takes effect on June 26 to coincide with the United NationsInternational Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
  • Under the agreement, individuals found in violation must compensate producers for any losses attributed to their conduct.
  • The Film Employees Federation of Kerala has already agreed to co-sign the initiative, and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes will review the proposal at its general body meeting before June 24.
  • The move responds to recent allegations including actor Shine Tom Chacko’s arrest, on-set complaints by Vincy Aloshious and producer Sandra Thomas’s claims of drugs-budget allocations.
