Malabar 2025 Underway Near Guam as Australia Joins India, Japan and the U.S.

The drills aim to sharpen Quad interoperability through high-end operations near Guam.

Overview

  • Australia confirmed participation with the frigate HMAS Ballarat and an RAAF P-8A Poseidon operating from Andersen Air Force Base for the 10–18 November exercise.
  • India’s INS Sahyadri arrived at Guam to join the multilateral drills, which the Indian Navy says reaffirm its commitment to regional security and coordination.
  • The Harbour Phase runs 10–12 November for planning, communications alignment and familiarisation events, followed by the Sea Phase from 13–17 November and a closing ceremony on 18 November.
  • Vice Admiral Justin Jones said complex serials in anti-submarine warfare, air defense and replenishment at sea build trust, readiness and interoperability among the partner navies.
  • HMAS Ballarat, on a three‑month Regional Presence Deployment with an embarked MH‑60R Seahawk, brings air, surface and undersea warfare capability to the exercise.
