Other violent crime categories also saw decreases, with aggravated assaults down 3%, gun assaults down 7%, and carjackings down 5%, though robberies and domestic violence both rose 2%.
Motor vehicle thefts increased by 29% in 2023, likely driven by thefts of certain car models with security flaws.
