Major Metro Areas See Unemployment Improvements in February

  • Tampa Bay, Miami and Orlando had some of the lowest unemployment rates among large cities in the U.S. in February at 2.5%, 3.4% and 3.4% respectively.
  • Detroit's unemployment rate fell to 3.8% in February, an improvement from 4.3% the previous year, though still above the national average.
  • Boston's unemployment rate rose slightly to 3.1% in February but remained below the national average of 3.5% for the month.
  • Some cities like Las Vegas, Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston had unemployment rates of 4% or higher.
  • The Federal Reserve is monitoring employment levels as an indicator of overall economic health.
