Major Automakers Launch Free Repairs Following NHTSA Recalls

Overview

  • Under unified NHTSA oversight, Nissan, Infiniti, Ford, Kia, Honda and GM have activated free inspection and repair programs at authorized dealerships in the United States and Canada.
  • Ford will mail recall notifications by July 28, Nissan plans to send letters in late August and other manufacturers will follow similar timelines.
  • The recalls address defects that could lead to engine bearing failures, rearview camera malfunctions, driveshaft corrosion, parking brake wiring damage and airbag inflator debris projection.
  • Affected vehicle counts include more than 480,000 Nissan and Infiniti models, about 200,000 Ford vehicles, 11,327 Kia Niro EVs, 65,115 Honda Accords, 40,233 Chevrolet Blazer EVs and 1,658 GM airbag cases.
  • Vehicle owners can confirm eligibility using online VIN lookup tools provided by the NHTSA or automakers before scheduled mailings.
