Major Artists Urge UK to Enact Ticket Resale Price Cap After New Which? Exposé

Ministers promise a response to the consultation shortly following Which? evidence of extreme mark-ups.

Overview

  • Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Radiohead and dozens of others joined consumer and industry groups in a public call for a legal ceiling on resale prices.
  • The coalition includes Which?, FanFair Alliance, O2, the Football Supporters’ Association and organizations representing venues, managers and ticket retailers.
  • Which? reported tickets listed at many times face value on Viagogo and StubHub, including Oasis seats over £4,400 and an All Points East listing at £114,666.
  • The watchdog also cited speculative selling and difficulties identifying sellers despite a 2018 CMA order requiring clearer trader information.
  • The government says it has reviewed responses on a potential 0–30% cap and will set out plans shortly, while Viagogo and StubHub warn caps could drive fans to riskier markets and insist they follow UK rules.
