Maine Man Charged in UNE Threats After Bomb-Making Materials Found at Home

Authorities report no ongoing threat to the university community.

  • Tibbetts is charged with terrorizing, criminal use of explosives and criminal attempt to cause a catastrophe, and is held at the York County Jail on $500,000 bail after a hospital evaluation.
  • UNE told its community it believes the suspect acted alone and reported no known danger to the Biddeford or Portland campuses, with security presence increased.
