Mail Ballots Put Annapolis Democrats in Command as Littmann Nears Mayoral Win

A final canvass next week will determine the official outcome in Ward 1.

  • An unofficial Thursday tally that included drop-box and most mail-in ballots showed Jared Littmann leading for mayor 6,312 to 2,305, or 73.01% to 26.66%, after Republican Robert O’Shea conceded.
  • Democrats now lead in all eight City Council contests, positioning the party to retain full control if remaining ballots track with current trends.
  • In Ward 1, incumbent Democrat Harry Huntley moved ahead 976 to 877 over unaffiliated Tom Krieck after mail ballots were added, reversing a 10-vote Election Day deficit.
  • Election officials will release one more batch of results Wednesday that includes provisional ballots and mail ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by 10 a.m.
  • As of Tuesday night, 573 issued mail ballots citywide had not yet been returned (335 Democratic, 113 Republican, 125 unaffiliated), including 117 in Ward 1 (60 Democratic, 30 Republican, 27 unaffiliated).
