Mahou San Miguel Launches Café 170, Creates Coffee Unit for Spain’s Hospitality Trade

The brewer targets growth outside beer to offset softer domestic demand.

Overview

  • The company unveiled a dedicated Coffee Business Unit led by Jesús Gómez Cáceres, who will report to business chief Peio Arbeloa.
  • Gómez Cáceres joins from Pascual, where he headed the coffee business, bringing more than 25 years of FMCG experience.
  • Café 170 is focused on the hospitality channel and will be sold initially through Mahou’s own distributor, Voldis.
  • A phased commercial rollout begins in January 2026, with an ambition to expand to nationwide coverage thereafter.
  • Mahou positions the move as broader diversification after a 2% drop in beer volume in its latest results, as Spain’s market cooled and its Solán de Cabras water business grew modestly.
