Mahindra’s BE 6 and XEV 9e Hit 20,000 Sales in Five Months

Strong uptake of higher‑spec XEV 9e variants is driving a factory ramp to raise monthly output.

Overview

  • Mahindra reports 9.3 crore kilometres logged by BE 6 and XEV 9e owners since launch, indicating extensive real‑world use.
  • The SUVs are offered with 59 kWh and 79 kWh batteries; Mahindra claims 500+ km everyday range for the larger pack and about 20–80% DC fast charging in roughly 20 minutes at 175 kW.
  • Demand is tilted toward the fully loaded Pack Three trims, with the XEV 9e drawing the majority of customer interest.
  • Production has been stepped up at Chakan, with capacity rising from about 5,000 units a month in March to 8,000 now and targets of 12,000 by March 2026 and 18,000 by FY27.
  • Mahindra cites running‑cost advantages versus comparable ICE SUVs, estimating five‑year savings of roughly ₹12.6–13.5 lakh aided by state incentives and EV loan tax benefits.
