Mahindra Unveils NU_IQ Platform and Four Concept SUVs at Freedom_NU Event

Built to accommodate petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric drivetrains, NU_IQ will underpin a global SUV lineup launching from 2027 on a single monocoque architecture.

Overview

  • The NU_IQ platform is a modular monocoque chassis engineered to support multiple powertrain options along with front-wheel-drive, all-wheel-drive and both left-hand and right-hand drive layouts.
  • Mahindra showcased four concept SUVs — Vision S, Vision T, Vision X and Vision SXT — as previews of production models slated to enter markets between 2027 and 2030.
  • The company cites segment-leading off-road packaging with a 227 mm ground clearance, 28° approach angle, 28.2° break-over angle, 34.8° departure angle and a 2,665 mm wheelbase.
  • Vision T builds on the 2023 Thar.e as an electric off-roader, Vision SXT previews a Thar-inspired lifestyle pickup, Vision S hints at the next Scorpio-Bolero family and Vision X previews a sub-4 metre urban crossover.
  • Initial NU_IQ production is set for Mahindra’s Chakan plant with exports planned to Australia, South Africa and other left-hand-drive markets as part of its global electrification strategy.
