Mahindra to Lift Born Electric Output by 3,000 Units a Month as XEV 9S Launch Nears

Bookings for the three-row EV start January 14 with first deliveries on January 23.

Overview

  • Mahindra currently builds about 5,000 units of the XEV 9S and BE 6 monthly and plans to add roughly 3,000 more before the financial year ends.
  • Existing facilities can produce around 100,000 EVs a year, with infrastructure scalable to approximately 200,000 if demand increases.
  • The new 70 kWh battery introduced on the XEV 9S is under evaluation for the BE 6 and XEV 9e as potential mid-spec options, pending market response.
  • On the 9S, the 70 kWh variant is priced at Rs 24.45 lakh with a claimed 600 km range and a 241 bhp/380 Nm RWD motor, slotting between 59 kWh (521 km) and 79 kWh (679 km) packs.
  • All three LFP battery packs carry a lifetime warranty, and Mahindra cites up to 500 km real-world range with 20–80% DC fast charging in roughly 20 minutes; a six-seat 9S is not planned at present but remains possible if demand emerges.
