Mahindra, Maruti and Tata Lock In EV SUV Launches as Mahindra Offers Anniversary Perks

Firm timelines plus incentives signal a rapid push to broaden electric lineups across price bands.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara made its debut at the Auto Expo. As of now, we do not know the specifications of the model that will go on sale in the Indian market. However, what we do know is that Maruti Suzuki will launch the e Vitara on December 2nd. There could be two battery packs on offer with a range of up to 500 km. It will be based on the Heartect-e EV platform. 
XEV 9E & BE 6 AVAILABLE WITH MASSIVE DISCOUNTS
The Safari is currently the flagship vehicle that the brand sells in the Indian market. Tata Motors is preparing to launch the Safari now with a petrol engine. Till now, the SUV has been offered only with a diesel engine. Once the petrol engine is launched, the starting price will fall, making the Safari accessible to more customers. The Safari with a petrol engine will debut on December 9th.
The Seltos has been a huge success in the Indian market. The brand will unveil the second generation of the SUV on December 10th globally, whereas in India, we expect the new-gen Seltos to launch sometime next year.  In the global market, the SUV will be offered with a petrol engine, a turbo petrol engine and a diesel engine. In the Indian market, as of now, the engine options are not known. There could be some upgrades to the platform as well, which will be shared with the Hyundai Creta. 

Overview

  • Mahindra will reveal the XEV 9S on November 27 as its first three-row electric SUV on the INGLO platform, with teased features including a triple-screen cabin and Level 2 ADAS.
  • Maruti Suzuki plans a December 2 launch for the e Vitara, produced in India for domestic and export markets, with reported 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery options and an AWD variant on the larger pack.
  • Tata Motors is set to showcase the Sierra EV later this year after the ICE Sierra’s November 25 debut, with battery specifications unconfirmed but reported to likely mirror the 55 kWh and 65 kWh packs used in other Tata EVs.
  • Mahindra announced anniversary benefits worth up to about Rs 1.50–1.55 lakh on the BE 6 and XEV 9e for the first 5,000 deliveries before December 20, including a 7.2 kW home charger, public charging credits, and accessory and exchange bonuses.
  • Trade reports point to a broader compact-SUV pipeline through 2026–2027 across Mahindra, Tata, Maruti, Hyundai and Kia, including NU_IQ-based models, the XUV 3XO EV, Kia Syros EV and a Hyundai compact EV, with many specifics still unconfirmed.
