Mahindra Keeps Mortara and de Vries for Gen4 Formula E Season

The team says driver continuity will help speed its learning of the new, faster Gen4 cars during pre-season testing followed by the Jeddah opener.

Overview

  • Mahindra confirmed on Tuesday that Edoardo Mortara and Nyck de Vries will remain its official driver pairing for the 2026/27 Gen4 Formula E season.
  • Team principal Frederic Bertrand said retaining the same drivers preserves shared reference points and trust that will be vital to manage the steep technical learning curve of the Gen4 cars.
  • The decision builds on last season’s on-track momentum when Mortara and de Vries delivered Mahindra a third-place finish in the teams’ standings with 252 points, two wins, 10 podiums, and six pole positions.
  • Mortara will enter his tenth Formula E season and will be the only current driver to have raced in all four technical generations while de Vries brings a former drivers’ title and recent strong form after his return from Formula 1.
  • A Mahindra social-media ‘thank you’ post briefly suggested the pair were leaving and prompted fan confusion, and the next milestones to watch are official Gen4 testing at Jarama from November 16–20 and the season-opening Jeddah E-Prix in December.
