Maharashtra Vows Same‑Month Ayushman Claim Payments as NHA Details Scale and Fraud Checks

National figures point to expanding coverage with faster digital claims plus stronger scrutiny.

Overview

  • Maharashtra will settle AB-PMJAY and MJPJAY claims within the same month of submission when proposals are complete, the state health minister announced.
  • In the state rollout, incentives for Ayushman card enrolment rose from ₹5 to ₹30 per card, 250 new 108 ambulances are being deployed, and MJPJAY continues its 80:20 hospital-to-corpus payment split for high-cost care.
  • The NHA’s 2024–25 report records 9.19 crore hospital admissions under AB-PMJAY, treatment worth ₹1,29,386 crore, and 31,005 empanelled hospitals with a near-even public–private mix.
  • Women accounted for 49% of admissions, with private facilities handling a larger share of high-value procedures in areas such as oncology, cardiology and orthopaedics.
  • Anti-fraud efforts flagged over 4.63 lakh suspicious claims for state probes, with 1,33,611 claims worth about ₹272 crore identified as fraudulent and rejected, as digital integration under ABDM accelerates paperless, cashless processing.
