Overview
- The change was announced by Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil after a review meeting with CET Cell and senior education officials.
- For admissions in 2026–27, the state will conduct MHT-CET in two sittings in April and May 2026, with a detailed timetable to follow.
- Appearing in at least one sitting will be required, a second attempt will be optional, and the higher of the two scores will determine admission.
- The MBA/MMS CET will also move to two sessions beginning in 2026, mirroring the undergraduate entrance tests.
- From 2027–28, officials said the two sittings will be spaced further apart similar to JEE Main, and the CET Cell plans earlier registrations, additional computer-based testing capacity, district help centres, and permanent staffing.
