In February 2025, the IMA filed a petition in the Maharashtra High Court against the Maharashtra government’s expected decision. The matter is still pending in court, and a final decision is yet to be taken. However, in such a situation, the government issuing a new order would constitute potential contempt of court, they said. (REPRESENTATIVE PHOTO)

Overview

  • A government circular on July 11 withdrew the June 30 notification that would have opened MMC registration for homeopathic practitioners with CCMP credentials from July 15
  • Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met with IMA leaders and ordered a seven-member committee chaired by the Commissioner of Medical Education to report within two months
  • Allopathic groups, including the Indian Medical Association and resident doctors at Nair Hospital, suspended planned strikes and silent protests after the freeze
  • Homeopathic bodies have warned of hunger strikes and legal petitions if the expert panel does not validate the short‐course bridge scheme
  • Critics contend that a six-month pharmacology module falls short of MBBS training and could undermine patient safety and legal clarity on cross-system practice
