Maharashtra Signs Nine MoUs Worth Rs 80,962 Crore at Steel Conclave

The signings at a steel industry conclave underscore a push to expand manufacturing through faster clearances.

  • Officials project more than 40,300 jobs across Vidarbha, Marathwada and Konkan from the steel and allied-sector commitments.
  • Jindal Stainless plans a Rs 41,580-crore stainless steel plant in Raigad with an estimated 15,500 jobs.
  • Rashmi Metallurgical will invest Rs 25,000 crore in an integrated steel plant in Wardha creating about 12,000 jobs, while Atha Group’s NPSPL will put Rs 5,440 crore into a lithium battery material and carbon complex in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar employing 5,000 people; Gadchiroli projects by Sumedh Tools and Hariom Pipe total Rs 5,135 crore with 5,500 jobs.
  • The agreements span Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Wardha, Raigad, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Satara, and were formalised at the AIIFA’s Steel Mahakumbh in Goregaon, Mumbai in the presence of senior state and Union leaders.
  • Separately, the state moved to streamline approvals with directives for an AI-based single-window building permissions system and began direct electronic disbursal of Rs 80.53 crore in grants to 10,546 public libraries.
