Maharashtra Signs 17 MoUs Worth Rs 33,768 Crore, Targets 33,483 Jobs

Officials pledge partner-style support through the Maitri single-window system to speed projects.

Overview

  • The new agreements cover electronics, steel, solar energy, electric buses and trucks, and defence-related industries across North Maharashtra, Pune, Vidarbha and Konkan.
  • The signings were conducted in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Industries Minister Uday Samant.
  • Fadnavis said the government will stay involved through implementation to remove hurdles, with the Maitri portal facilitating quicker land allocation, permits and other clearances.
  • He said a recently approved five-year multi-year tariff plan will lower electricity rates each year, reversing previous annual increases.
  • The August 29 signings follow a separate August 19 batch of 10 MoUs worth about Rs 42,000 crore for solar projects and data centres, which were projected to create more than 28,000 jobs.
