Maharashtra Signs ₹120 Crore ECA-Financed Pact to Modernise Six ITIs

The state is finalising an ECA-backed financing model to equip six ITIs with advanced maritime labs, global curricula, certification to train up to 7,000 students annually.

Overview

  • The ₹120 crore agreement involves the Skill Development and Ports Departments, Atal Solutions and ECAs from the Netherlands, Denmark and Poland under a risk-insured financing model.
  • Rural Enhancer Group is finalising implementation plans with funding and technical support from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust and the Maharashtra Maritime Board.
  • Selected ITIs in Mumbai, Pune, Baramati, Sindhudurg, Nagpur and Nashik will receive simulation labs, international course content and expert-led certification programs.
  • The programme aims to train 5,000–7,000 youth each year to meet staffing needs for JNPT expansions and the upcoming Vadhavan Port project.
  • The PPP initiative aligns with NEP 2020, Skill India MissionhaMaharashtra ITI Modernisation Policy 2025 and UN SDGs, creating a replicable export-ready vocational training model.
