Overview
- The first phase covers 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats, where 6,859 members and 288 presidents will be elected.
- Voting will use Electronic Voting Machines without a VVPAT paper trail, as confirmed by State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare.
- There will be no revision of voter lists for this phase, and officials will flag possible duplicate names, contact such voters, and require undertakings at polling stations to prevent multiple voting.
- The model code of conduct took effect on November 4, and nomination filing opens on November 10 with scrutiny to follow as per the announced schedule.
- In Pune district, 17 municipal councils go to the polls with 6.34 lakh voters across 730 booths, around 17,000 duplicate entries identified, and first-time elections in Phursungi–Uruli Devachi, Manchar, and Malegaon Budruk.
