Maharashtra Sets Diwali Bonuses for Civic and Cultural Workers
The payouts extend beyond regular civic staff to teachers, volunteers, outsourced personnel, other support workers.
Overview
- Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced one-time bonuses of Rs 31,000 for BMC and BEST staff, Rs 24,500 for Thane, and Rs 34,500 for Navi Mumbai.
- BMC chief Bhushan Gagrani ordered Rs 31,000 ex-gratia for all municipal employees plus private and aided school staff, including lecturers and full-time teachers.
- BMC also set Bhaubij gifts of Rs 14,000 for community health volunteers and Rs 5,000 for kindergarten teachers and helpers.
- Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar approved assistance for the Maharashtra Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation: Rs 16,800 ex-gratia and Rs 30,000 allowance for officials and employees, Rs 15,000 for contractual and outsourced staff, and Rs 5,000 for ND Studios workers.
- Officials directed immediate implementation, with municipal commissioners and the corporation’s managing director instructed to process payments before Diwali, and reports have not yet confirmed disbursements.
