Maharashtra Seals MoUs and Rs 11,300 Crore Funding to Launch ‘New Nagpur’ IBFC

Fresh agreements put money and oversight in place for a 15-year phased build-out.

Overview

  • NMRDA signed MoUs with NBCC and HUDCO to move the 1,710-acre New Nagpur project into execution as an International Business and Financial Centre.
  • NBCC has been named project management and advisory agency, with immediate development planned on 1,000 acres and 710 acres reserved for future expansion.
  • HUDCO committed Rs 11,300 crore, including Rs 6,500 crore for New Nagpur land acquisition and infrastructure and Rs 4,800 crore for acquiring land for the Nagpur Outer Ring Road.
  • Plans call for plug-and-play infrastructure such as integrated underground utility tunnels, a district cooling system, automated waste collection, and space for startups, MSMEs, IT firms, commercial centers, and housing.
  • An empowered committee chaired by the NMRDA Commissioner will oversee a three-phase rollout over 15 years, following last week's state Cabinet approval for establishing the IBFC in Godhani and Ladgaon, Hingna taluka.
