Maharashtra Sanctions Rs 15 Crore to Redevelop Four Mumbai–Goa Highway Alternate Routes

Work on the four feeder roads is set to start immediately to relieve bottlenecks until the Indapur and Mangaon bypasses are completed.

Overview

  • Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar approved a Rs 15 crore allocation on June 11 to widen and repair four alternative links serving the Mumbai–Goa Highway.
  • The redevelopment covers Morba Road to the Mumbai–Goa Highway, the Sainagar Canal Bridge–Uttekhol Canal Village stretch, Nizampur Canal Road to Bhadav Road and Indapur Canal Road to Vigwali Phata Road.
  • The state committed to stepping in with finances for any sections not covered by National Highways Authority funding to prevent project delays.
  • Plans were signed off at a high-level meeting in Mantralaya attended by PWD Minister Shivendrasinh Raje Bhosale and other senior officials following Pawar’s May 18 inspection in Raigad.
  • Pawar instructed the Raigad district collector and superintendent of police to deploy additional personnel for traffic management and public safety along the corridor.
