Overview

  • Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik directed Evey Trans to resume delivery of the remaining 4,930 buses under a revised timetable following his May 26 cancellation order.
  • Only 220 of the 5,150 contracted buses have arrived so far, leading MSRTC to issue seven show-cause notices and impose Rs 4 crore in penalties.
  • MSRTC is losing Rs 12 per kilometre on 12-metre buses and Rs 16 per kilometre on 9-metre variants, with total losses projected at Rs 3,191 crore over the coming years.
  • The state has paid Rs 60 crore to Evey Trans from electric bus revenues, with an extra Rs 40 crore pending after the supplier halted deliveries over outstanding dues.
  • Sarnaik plans a high-level meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to finalise financial support measures.
