Overview
- Out of 201 applications to drop charges from religious, political and social agitations, 77 were recommended and forwarded to regional committees for examination.
- Cases involving crimes against women, serious offences or personal and civil disputes are barred by policy, and 47 such applications were rejected.
- Six matters that include sitting or former MLAs and MPs will go to the Bombay High Court for final disposal in line with government resolutions and Supreme Court directives.
- The government invited fresh applications for cases linked to Ganeshotsav, Navratri, Dahi Handi, COVID-period programmes and labour agitations, with another meeting to follow.
- The review was conducted at Mumbai’s Sahyadri Guest House under chair Ashish Shelar, alongside senior officials from the Law and Judiciary and Home departments and state police.
